Despite
a deprived childhood, a successful yet boring start in business,
and against all the odds, Greg won a mature student place at Medical
School. This was after two gruelling years of intense night school
study, numerous rejections by establishment-minded Deans and then
the
passing of all three sciences.
Amazingly, and after all that, he declined
his hard won place in favour of the challenges of sales and marketing.
He had however proved that it was possible to complete an education
through hard work plus determination, and also that anything in
life was truly possible, if your goal was clear and strong. This,
he explained
(plus a visit to the Morbid Anatomy Dept!), was the event that
triggered his life long passion for personal development and motivation.
For the past twenty years he has enjoyed a glittering
career in marketing, sales and senior management. Not only did Greg achieve
spectacular
sales and management results, he also increased the profitability
of every single organisation he ran.
Little did he know those
early years were to sow the seed for an exciting new venture early
in the
next century. Greg’s pedigree includes helping a diversity
of businesses ranging from; adventure travel, event & venue
finding, estate agents, medical finance, recruitment, business
transfer, management
training plus blue chip companies (Allied Dunbar, American Express,
Prudential) in both start up and development roles.
His reputation and track record earned him
the ultimate accolade of being called in as the development director
for a major Plc, responsible
for mergers & acquisitions, business growth, marketing, brand
creation and change management. This was the chance to major on
his strengths
and wealth of experience in one truly demanding role.
Throughout
his successful career there has been a theme of being an excellent
manager
and coach combined with a lust for personal development. This
passion also led to a contribution to the foundation work for the
UK College
of Life Coaching.
When asked about his business philosophy and what prompted him to
start Profit Doctor he modestly explained,
“Business is about a fundamental understanding
of two areas. People and money. This profound insight has to be simplified;
yet all
the depth, complexities and technicalities need to be readily available.
They are typically not needed because it is the elegant and simple
things that often have the most impact.
"I have a very special gift
for helping people get the best from themselves and their businesses.
I’ve always been grateful for the thanks, praise, compliments
and the numerous, hauntingly repeated messages from well wishers
along the lines of – ‘so why on earth don’t you
do this by creating your own company?’ finally it sunk in!
"So I started a modern business based on the
old fashion values of: honesty, integrity,
caring and treating all with respect.”
And so the adventure began……
